Raised near Toronto, Ontario, I graduated from Carleton University’s journalism program in 1997 and then headed west, where I promptly forgot about my education, fell in love with the outdoors and spent a year travelling.

My travels brought me full circle back to my love of writing and sharing experience. In 2002 I began freelance writing and, shortly after, working for the Canmore Leader and Banff Crag & Canyon community newspapers. In 2006, I moved farther north and west to Smithers, B.C. Inspired by local Indigenous cultures, I pursued a Master of Arts in Communication specializing in intercultural communication at Royal Roads University, graduating in 2009.

Since then, I’ve slowed significantly: I met and married this handsome man and became a mom to this beautiful little girl. I write, edit, parent and, when I have time, practise yoga in our perpetually unfinished straw-bale home near Smithers.

Drop me a note and say hi!

This is ,me
